As a Sr Lead Software Engineer Python within the Chief Data and Analytics Office, you will join an agile team focused on building and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will serve as a core technical contributor responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting AI-enabled applications while driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. Your daily work involves building AI-powered features using Bedrock, Foundry, or Vertex AI, implementing input/output safety guardrails, and leading communities of practice regarding prompt engineering and SDK best practices. You will utilize Python, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, containerization, and cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, and Azure. Additionally, you may use Terraform to support the development of high-quality production code and automated remediation of recurring issues in AI services.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and troubleshoot technical solutions for AI-enabled applications.
Write secure, high-quality production code while debugging SDK and service integrations.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery speed and quality.
Automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the reliability of AI features and services.
Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams regarding model capabilities, safety, and integration patterns.
Lead communities of practice to share prompt engineering, evaluation methods, and SDK best practices.
Build and ship AI-powered features using platforms like Bedrock, Foundry, or Vertex AI.
Implement input/output safety guardrails and comprehensive LLM usage logging and monitoring.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
Advanced proficiency in Python software engineering skills.
Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle and secure coding practices.
Experience with DevOps including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, containerization, observability, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Advanced understanding of application resiliency and security for AI applications.
Experience with Terraform (preferred).
