Lead Software Engineer - Java Full stack, Agentic AI joins the Global Banking Technology team as a core technical contributor in an agile environment. This role involves designing, developing, and troubleshooting complex software solutions while driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. The engineer will build high-quality production code, lead communities of practice, and evaluate architectural designs with external vendors. Technical requirements include expertise in Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA, microservices, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React. The role requires advanced experience with agentic development tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, along with proficiency in Kafka, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Maven. The work focuses on creating secure, scalable technology products while implementing Spec-Driven Development and responsible AI workflows within the banking sector.
Develop secure, high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by other team members.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for AI-generated outputs including security, performance, and peer review.
Identify opportunities to automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve system stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical applicability.
Lead communities of practice to promote awareness and adoption of leading-edge technologies.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications including API contracts, UI acceptance criteria, and test cases.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of experience leading the design and building of solutions.
Expertise in Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA, and relevant microservices frameworks.
Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and popular test frameworks for UI.
Expert-level experience with AI-assisted/agentic development tools to accelerate full-stack delivery while enforcing secure usage and SDLC compliance.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Experience practicing Spec-Driven Development by translating business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications.
Familiarity with monitoring technologies like Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk; hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify.
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle), event-driven processing (Kafka), Object-Oriented Design, Test Driven Development, and test automation frameworks.
Agile software development experience adhering to a product operating model (preferred).
Experience in building enterprise solutions focused on Data Analytics (preferred).
Experience in AI agentic application development using GitHub Copilot/Copilot agents (preferred).
Experience practicing Spec-Driven Development specifically using GitHub Copilot (preferred).
