The Lead IT Architect serves as the strategic architecture leader across multiple products and value streams within the Specialty technology portfolio. This role involves defining the architecture vision, roadmap, and technical strategy while ensuring technology investments align with business objectives. You will establish architecture standards, govern design principles, and lead discussions during program increment planning to balance immediate delivery with long-term scalability. Key responsibilities include guiding the design of distributed, cloud-native solutions using APIs, event-driven architectures, and microservices. You will also oversee platform reuse, manage architectural dependencies, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards like FHIR and HIPAA. The role requires expertise in portfolio-level technology governance, modern integration patterns, and evaluating AI-enabled capabilities within a regulated healthcare technology environment to reduce technical duplication and improve overall platform consistency.
Define and maintain the architecture vision, roadmap, and technical strategy across multiple products and value streams.
Align technology investments with organizational priorities by partnering with product, engineering, and business leaders.
Establish and govern architecture standards, design principles, and reusable technology patterns.
Lead architecture discussions and decision-making during strategic planning and program increment (PI) planning activities.
Guide the design of distributed, cloud-native solutions using APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Identify opportunities for platform reuse to drive consistency and reduce duplicated technology investments.
Provide architectural oversight for third-party vendors, implementation partners, and systems integrators.
Mentor architects and technical leaders to strengthen architecture practices and decision-making across the organization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
12+ years of experience in architecture, software engineering, or senior technical leadership roles.
8+ years of experience working within software development organizations and modern delivery environments.
3+ years of experience defining architecture strategy across multiple products, platforms, programs, or value streams.
Experience establishing and governing architecture standards adopted by independent product or engineering teams.
Demonstrated success designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native solutions using microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
Experience developing architecture roadmaps, managing dependencies, and presenting technology strategies to senior leadership.
Experience within healthcare, pharmacy, payer, or other regulated technology environments (preferred).
