Lead, Electrical Engineer - Power Supply Design Engineer will join the engineering team to develop power supply circuits for data acquisition and computing systems. The role involves designing isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies, including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, battery chargers, and power management circuits. Key responsibilities include performing requirements analysis, component selection for semiconductors and magnetics, circuit simulation for thermal performance and EMI/EMC, and supporting PWB layout. The engineer will also execute test plans for prototype bring-up, troubleshoot issues in the lab, and ensure compliance with military standards such as 461, 704, and 1275. Required skills include hardware debugging using signal generators and logic analyzers. This role focuses on creating high-performance power solutions for complex systems while providing technical leadership during design reviews and manufacturing support.
Design and develop isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, and battery chargers.
Translate system requirements into detailed power architectures and circuit designs.
Conduct component selection and trade studies for semiconductors, magnetics, ICs, filters, and protection circuitry.
Simulate and analyze circuits for efficiency, thermal performance, control loop stability, EMI/EMC, and transient response.
Develop schematics and provide technical support for high-current, high-voltage, and low-noise PCB layouts.
Create and execute test plans for prototype bring-up, characterization, verification, and qualification.
Troubleshoot power supply performance issues in the lab and perform root cause and corrective action analysis.
Prepare technical documentation including design reports, analysis summaries, and released engineering data.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, a graduate degree with 7 years of experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Experience designing isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, battery chargers, and management circuits.
Proficiency in circuit simulation for efficiency, thermal performance, control loop stability, EMI/EMC, and transient response.
Ability to perform component selection, trade studies, and develop schematics for high-current, high-voltage, and low-noise applications.
Experience in hardware debugging using signal generators, logic analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes (preferred).
