TL;DR · Specialist, Electrical Engineering - Power Supply Design Engineer

Specialist, Electrical Engineering - Power Supply Design Engineer will join the engineering team to develop power supply circuits for data acquisition and computing systems. The role involves designing isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies, including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, battery chargers, and power management circuits. Key responsibilities include performing component selection, conducting trade studies for semiconductors and magnetics, simulating circuit performance for thermal and EMI/EMC stability, and supporting PWB layout. The engineer will also execute test plans for prototype bring-up, troubleshoot issues in the lab, and ensure compliance with safety and reliability requirements. Required skills include experience with signal generators, logic analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes, along with knowledge of military standards 461, 704, and 1275. The position focuses on creating high-performance power solutions for complex electronic systems.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, and battery chargers.
  • Conduct component selection and design trade studies for semiconductors, magnetics, ICs, filters, and protection circuitry.
  • Simulate and analyze power circuits for efficiency, thermal performance, control loop stability, EMI/EMC, and transient response.
  • Develop schematics and provide technical support for PCB layout in high-current, high-voltage, and low-noise applications.
  • Create and execute test plans for prototype bring-up, characterization, verification, and qualification.
  • Troubleshoot power supply performance issues in the lab and perform root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, EMI/EMC, environmental, and reliability requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation including design reports, analysis summaries, test procedures, and engineering data.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree and 2 years of experience, or 8 years of experience without a degree.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Experience designing isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, battery chargers, and management circuits.
  • Proficiency in component selection, simulation, and analysis for efficiency, thermal performance, control loop stability, EMI/EMC, and transient response.
  • Ability to develop schematics, support PCB layout, and perform troubleshooting for high-current, high-voltage, and low-noise applications.
  • Experience creating test plans for prototype bring-up, characterization, verification, and qualification.
  • Skills in hardware debugging with signal generators, logic analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, and knowledge of Military Standards 461, 704, and 1275 (preferred); Active TS/SCI Clearance (preferred).
  • U.S. citizens.
