Lead, Electrical Engineer (Power) joins the team to support the design and development of advanced space-qualified power hardware for mission-critical applications. This role involves leading the full lifecycle of hardware development, including requirements analysis, architecture definition, schematic capture, simulation, manufacturing, and verification. The engineer will design and analyze isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies such as AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, battery chargers, and distribution circuits while addressing radiation effects like Single Event Transients. Key responsibilities include performing circuit analysis for voltage regulation, custom magnetics, and thermal performance, alongside troubleshooting at the board and system levels. Required skills include expertise in control loop theory, EMI filtering, and PCB layout. The role utilizes tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, Cadence, Siemens Xpedition, Mathcad, MATLAB, and Python to solve complex power distribution challenges for spacecraft and payload systems.
Lead the design and development of advanced power hardware using electrical engineering principles.
Translate customer requirements into detailed electrical specifications and power architectures while balancing cost and schedule.
Design and analyze isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies including AC/DC, DC/DC, and battery chargers.
Perform detailed analysis for voltage regulation, custom magnetics, radiation effects, thermal performance, and EMI/EMC.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior power engineers.
Troubleshoot hardware issues at the component, board, module, payload, and system levels using laboratory instruments.
Conduct trade studies and develop conceptual power solutions for proposals and new business opportunities.
Manage risk reduction activities related to component obsolescence, cost, and manufacturing feasibility.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and at least 9 years of relevant experience in a STEM field, or a Graduate Degree and at least 7 years of related experience.
Experience interpreting high-level requirements and developing power architectures.
Strong experience in electronic power design including power devices, control loop theory, thermal management, custom magnetics, PCB layout, and EMI filtering.
Technical knowledge of spacecraft power subsystems including orbital average power modeling, batteries, charging systems, and distribution.
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance (preferred).
Experience with proposal generation, mission definition, trade studies, and manufacturing collaboration (preferred).
Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Review Boards (FRB).
