Lead Data Migration - Archival - DR Engineer will join the Case Management Modernization Data Modernization and Governance team to support a cloud-based solution for federal courts. This role owns the end-to-end strategy and execution of data migration, archival activities, and disaster recovery designs for program infrastructure. Key responsibilities include developing migration flows, managing data lifecycles, ensuring auditability, and designing high-availability systems. The candidate will build scalable cloud platforms using Data Lake, Data Warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes while integrating AI and Machine Learning capabilities. Required technical skills include SQL, NoSQL, GraphDB, and experience with AWS data services or similar tools for migration and recovery. The role addresses the challenge of transitioning legacy court systems to a modern, secure cloud environment while ensuring compliance with federal security requirements and data governance standards.
Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of all data migration and archival activities for the CMM program.
Design and implement scalable, secure cloud-based data platforms including data lakes, lakehouses, and warehouses.
Develop comprehensive data migration plans including profiling, mapping, testing, and rollback procedures.
Create and manage data archival strategies covering storage tiers, retention schedules, and access controls.
Engineer disaster recovery and high-availability architectures with automated failover and regular drill testing.
Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) to provision and configure operational databases and secure data APIs.
Ensure all migration and archival activities comply with federal security requirements and data governance policies.
Mentor the Data Migration Engineer and oversee the quality of technical execution across all migration events.
What we're looking for
An MA/MS degree with 10 years of experience in information systems and 8 years of specialized experience is required.
Experience may be substituted for a degree: HS (16+ years), AA/AS (14+ years), BA/BS (12+ years), or Doctorate (9+ years).
Deep experience designing data architecture using AWS data services and modern application patterns is required.
Demonstrated experience developing migration and archival strategies, including source-to-target mapping, profiling, and rollback planning is required.
Hands-on experience designing and testing disaster recovery and high-availability architectures is required.
Strong SQL, NoSQL, GraphDB, and data validation skills are required.
Experience supporting government, public sector, or Judiciary/court information systems is preferred.
Relevant certifications such as CDMP, Snowflake SnowPro, Databricks, or AWS certifications are preferred.
