The Kubernetes Platform Infrastructure Architect joins the Modern Workloads Platform Engineering team to drive the adoption of VMware Kubernetes Service within VMware Cloud Foundation. This architect-level role involves acting as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers and Systems Integrators to design, validate, and deploy software-defined data centers. Key responsibilities include leading architecture workshops, conducting technical deep-dives, and building reusable reference architectures and deployment patterns. The role requires deep expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, vSAN, and SDDC Manager, alongside experience with Kubernetes platforms like EKS, AKS, and Red Hat OpenShift. What we're looking for
10+ years in technology-related engineering or consulting roles with depth in enterprise IT architecture, data center SDN, or private cloud infrastructure.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical data center experience.
Proven architecture expertise on VMware Cloud Foundation core infrastructure products, including vSphere deployment, vSAN storage, and automated SDDC Manager operations.
Experience with Kubernetes Platform Engineering, such as EKS, AKS, RH OCP/OPP, or Rancher.
Deep design and implementation experience with enterprise networking fabrics like VMware NSX or other leading solutions.
Demonstrated experience managing Kubernetes-native networking constructs, including ingress controllers, egress controls, and CNI multi-tenancy configurations.
Proven success working directly with enterprise customers and Systems Integrators to deliver technical solutions and drive platform adoption.
VMware Certified Professional/Advanced tracks, Cisco CCIE/CCNP Data Center, or CKA/CKAD/RHCA/RHCE certifications (preferred).
