TL;DR · Assistant Vice President Java Developer, Finance Engine Hedge Fund Billing

Java Developer, Finance Engine Hedge Fund Billing, Assistant Vice President will join the Finance Engine Hedge Fund Billing technology team to design, build, and enhance high-throughput, enterprise-grade billing and calculation engines for global institutional hedge fund clients. This role involves developing full-stack applications using Java microservices and Angular frontends while managing complex fee structures and high-volume transactional processing. Key responsibilities include designing relational database schemas with MSSQL, optimizing backend queries, and ensuring ACID compliance across financial accounting workflows. The candidate will utilize a technical stack including Spring Boot, TypeScript, HTML5/CSS3, and RESTful APIs, while participating in CI/CD pipelines involving Jenkins, Docker, and OpenShift. The position addresses the critical business problem of providing scalable, resilient, and cloud-ready systems for complex hedge fund operations, asset management, and institutional billing within a high-volume financial environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java microservices and Angular frontends.
  • Design modular, extensible services to perform high-volume financial calculations and processing.
  • Create interactive user interfaces and operational dashboards for seamless user experience.
  • Design efficient relational database schemas and optimize complex SQL queries for low-latency data retrieval.
  • Manage the full software lifecycle including requirement analysis, technical design, and automated testing.
  • Integrate automated builds, security scans, and deployments into enterprise CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in platform modernization through containerization and cloud-ready architectural enhancements.
  • Diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analyses, and implement monitoring and alerting solutions.

What we're looking for

  • 5–8 years of professional hands-on software development experience building enterprise-scale distributed systems in Financial Services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Core Java, JVM internals, concurrency, multi-threading, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and RESTful API architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in modern Angular, TypeScript, HTML5/CSS3, responsive UI design, and single-page application architecture.
  • Extensive experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, or Sybase), complex query tuning, schema design, and transaction management.
  • Practical experience with microservices architecture, REST/JSON APIs, and message brokers like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS.
  • Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, and standard deployment automation tools.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Prior domain knowledge in Hedge Fund operations, Asset Management, or Capital Markets (preferred); familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift (preferred).
