As a Java AWS Software Engineer III within the Post Trade Technology Reporting team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment focused on building secure, stable, and scalable products. You will be responsible for designing, building, and testing applications during a migration and modernization journey. Your daily work involves developing code that meets non-functional requirements, performing unit and integration testing using test-driven development, participating in peer reviews, and mentoring junior developers. You will also drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery speed and quality. The role requires proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, AWS cloud technologies, and database querying languages. Additionally, you may utilize tools like Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Docker, Databricks, MongoDB, and Apache Iceberg to manage large-scale data within the financial services domain.
Develop code that meets design specifications, non-functional requirements, and established coding standards.
Create unit tests and perform integration, QA, and user acceptance testing.
Implement test-driven development, automated testing, and continuous integration practices.
Conduct peer reviews to evaluate code quality, identify defects, and provide actionable feedback.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools for coding, refactoring, and testing.
Mentor junior developers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and code reviews.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance tuning measures.
Design and build scalable applications using Spring Boot and AWS cloud technologies.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on experience coding in one or more programming languages, including Java.
Experience designing and implementing applications using Spring Boot.
Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud technologies.
Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching others on safe, compliant adoption.
Solid understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Experience with Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Docker, Databricks, NoSQL databases, or Apache Iceberg (preferred).
