As an IT Monitoring Specialist at GDIT, you will join the IT Infrastructure and Operations team to ensure the continuous operation and performance of critical IT systems and infrastructure. Your daily responsibilities include responding to alerts, diagnosing complex technical problems, documenting incidents, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to minimize business disruptions. You will utilize monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, or SCOM, alongside ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Remedy. The role requires a CompTIA Security+ certification and involves maintaining standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides to support complex government, defense, and intelligence projects.

What you'll do

  • Monitor IT systems, networks, servers, and applications 24/7 to identify performance issues.
  • Respond to alerts from monitoring tools by diagnosing problems and implementing solutions.
  • Document and track incidents, including troubleshooting steps and final resolutions.
  • Escalate critical incidents to higher-level support teams with detailed information and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring procedures by adjusting thresholds and settings.
  • Create and improve IT documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
  • Identify trends in system alerts to prevent recurring technical issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to optimize system performance and prevent problems.

What we're looking for

  • Must possess a Top Secret SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have 1+ years of related experience.
  • Must have CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Must have experience in Help Desk Support, Monitoring Tools, and Technical Support.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, or SCOM (preferred).
  • Familiarity with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy (preferred).
