As an Intern Cybersecurity Specialist – 2027, you will join the IBM Consulting FutureNow Center team to help organizations protect critical systems and secure digital operations. You will work alongside experienced professionals to strengthen cyber resilience through enterprise security solutions, focusing on threat detection, security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, governance, risk, compliance, and security assessments. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing security requirements, documenting processes, and supporting risk management activities. You will utilize modern security technologies, threat intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and cloud technologies to solve complex security challenges across industries like healthcare and financial services. The role requires a foundation in networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity principles. You will contribute to security monitoring and identity and access management while gaining exposure to enterprise security platforms and transformation initiatives.
Support cybersecurity initiatives to strengthen security operations, governance, risk management, and compliance.
Analyze security requirements and document internal security processes for clients.
Assist with security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat detection.
Analyze security events and operational data to identify trends and develop improvement recommendations.
Test and validate cybersecurity solutions to protect critical business systems and information.
Support risk management activities and cybersecurity assessments for diverse industry clients.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enterprise security platforms and cloud technologies.
What we're looking for
High School Diploma/GED.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, operating systems, security best practices, and enterprise technology environments.
Exposure to cybersecurity concepts like threat detection, vulnerability management, or incident response through coursework, projects, labs, or competitions.
Interest in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and digital transformation concepts.
Demonstrated application of technical or analytical skills through academic projects, research, internships, or personal learning.
Familiarity with security monitoring, threat intelligence, identity and access management, or recognized cybersecurity frameworks (preferred).
Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates while supporting cybersecurity initiatives and enterprise security transformation (preferred).
