PageWide Web Press Controls Systems Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and maintain PLC-based control systems using modular, reusable, and configurable architectures.
• Develop sequencing logic, state machines, and process controls to meet equipment performance requirements.
• Create and maintain operator interfaces featuring alarm visualization, user roles, and recipe management.
• Configure and commission motion systems, drives, and industrial I/O while integrating communication protocols.
• Design, implement, and validate machine safety solutions in compliance with applicable safety standards.
• Commission machines in factory and customer environments while performing FAT and SAT procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve complex control system, motion, and HMI issues using diagnostics and logging.
• Optimize system behavior and performance to meet specific throughput and quality targets.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Computer, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4–7 years of experience in industrial automation, machine controls, or PLC software development (3–5 years with an advanced degree).
• Experience in OEM machine builder or high-speed industrial equipment environments (preferred).
• Proficiency in PLC-based control system development, including IEC 61131-3 programming (Structured Text preferred).
• Experience with motion control, servo systems, and industrial communication protocols like PROFIBUS, PROFINET, POWERLINK, Ethernet/IP, and OPC UA.
• Experience with HMI development, commissioning, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for industrial equipment.
• Experience with B&R Automation Studio, mapp Technology, and B&R Automation Academy training (preferred).
• Experience supporting high-speed web-handling or continuous-process equipment (preferred).
