As an Automation & Controls Engineer (Raptor Manufacturing Systems), you will join the team responsible for 3D additive printers supporting Raptor engines. You will be directly responsible for the design, integration, wiring, and commissioning of safety logic and motion-controlled systems to meet high production rates. Your daily work involves managing automation projects from initial ideation through machine commissioning, developing training programs, and creating aesthetically simple HMI screens. You will architect, write, and debug PLC code while ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A regulations. The role requires expertise in electrical systems, including VFDs and Fieldbus networks like Modbus TCP or Profinet; electronics troubleshooting using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; and industrial software such as Schneider Electric Machine Expert and Inductive Automation Ignition. You will solve complex manufacturing challenges by integrating hardware with sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and manage automation projects from initial ideation through machine commissioning and hand-off.
Architect, write, and debug structured PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications.
Create aesthetically simple HMI screens to simplify the operation and troubleshooting of complex machines.
Design electrical systems that comply with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A regulations.
Implement safety-compliant systems in accordance with ANSI/RIA15.06 and OSHA standards.
Troubleshoot, root cause, and repair electronics and electrical components on an aggressive production schedule.
Develop training programs for technicians and engineers to support manufacturing operations.
Manage project schedules and budgets while leading the team toward meeting production goals.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a STEM discipline.
At least 1 year of experience in industrial or factory automation design and commissioning.
Ability to design, program, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications.
Experience designing electrical systems compliant with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A regulations.
Proficiency in troubleshooting electronics and electrical components on aggressive production schedules.
Experience developing SCADA systems and HMI screens for intuitive machine operation.
Ability to design safety-rated circuits and implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems.
Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for export control authorizations.
