The Head of Product Engineering, HR Total Rewards is a senior leader reporting to the Head of HR Technology. You will lead a fifty-person organization across multiple autonomous pods, overseeing custom-built product engineering and a broad ecosystem of third-party SaaS applications. Responsibilities include defining the product vision for Total Rewards technology, managing budgets, and driving a holistic AI-enabled workforce transformation. You must remain hands-on by writing and reviewing code, prototyping, and validating AI-generated outputs. Key technical requirements include proficiency in cloud-native architectures, containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD practices, and AI coding tools like Devin AI, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor. You will solve complex problems regarding system design, scalability, and vendor governance to improve productivity and decision-making across the workforce.
Lead a 50-person product engineering organization across multiple autonomous pods and capability teams.
Define the product vision and investment roadmap for Total Rewards technology.
Write and review code, build prototypes, and validate AI-generated outputs to maintain technical depth.
Drive an organization-wide transformation to embed AI-enabled workflows into planning, building, and decision-making.
Oversee a portfolio of third-party SaaS applications, ensuring vendor governance and secure integrations.
Establish organization-wide architectural principles, engineering guardrails, and security standards.
Manage workforce planning, hiring strategy, budget prioritization, and vendor/resource mix.
Coach a leadership bench of managers and leads to improve organizational effectiveness and talent development.
What we're looking for
Demonstrated experience leading a multi-team product engineering organization, including managers and cross-functional delivery groups.
Experience operating in a senior leadership role reporting directly to a functional technology head or equivalent executive.
Extensive experience in product engineering, software engineering, solution architecture, platform engineering, product management, or technology leadership.
Proven ability to lead enterprise-wide transformation programs, specifically those involving AI-enabled ways of working and behavioral change.
Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on with coding, prototyping, debugging, and technical validation to improve engineering decisions.
Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code across multiple languages for correctness, security, and architectural patterns.
Proficiency with AI coding tools (e.g., Devin AI, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and cloud-native architectures (Docker, Kubernetes).
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree or equivalent executive leadership experience is a plus (preferred).
