Hardware/Software Lab Technician

What you'll do

• Execute, monitor, and analyze standard and non-standard experiments to support engineering partners.
• Develop, write, and edit scripts using languages such as Python, C++, C#, or TCL.
• Perform precision alignments, calibrations, and re-configurations on hardware systems and sub-systems.
• Troubleshoot and document failures of equipment, test-beds, and prototype units down to the component level.
• Maintain and configure computer systems, including operating system installations and hardware control setups.
• Implement mechanical, electronic, and software modifications to existing tools and equipment.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate real-time failure causes to engineers and technicians.

What we're looking for

• Must have a BS degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess foundational programming skills and the ability to write, edit, and execute scripts.
• Ability to use XML, UNIX, C#, C++, TCL, Visual Basic, Python, and image processing software.
• Demonstrated ability to perform precision alignments, calibrations, and hardware/software troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must have mechanical dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing or sitting.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both internal teams and external partners.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an ambiguous environment with changing priorities.
