TL;DR · Hardware Developer Intern

The Hardware Developer Intern will join the team responsible for delivering high-speed SERDES interfaces for IBM Power and Z microprocessors using advanced 3nm technologies. In this role, you will help transition high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4 while designing, simulating, and laying out circuits for transmitters, receivers, and PLLs. Your daily tasks include performing schematic level design, conducting in-depth circuit analysis for manufacturability, and developing scripts to parse data. You will utilize Cadence design tools, Spectre, and spice simulators while applying knowledge of VHDL, Python, Perl, and TCL. This position focuses on solving complex analog circuit challenges to support future microprocessor requirements, specifically addressing high-speed interface terminology such as CTLE, DFE, and various receiver and transmitter components.

What you'll do

  • Transition high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4 for future microprocessors.
  • Design, simulate, and layout circuits using industry standard and proprietary tools.
  • Design and develop transmitter, receiver, PLL, or other analog circuits.
  • Perform schematic level design using Cadence design tools.
  • Conduct in-depth circuit analysis using Spectre and spice simulators.
  • Analyze designs for manufacturability and end of life requirements.
  • Develop scripts in Python to parse data.

What we're looking for

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Pursuing an MS in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Analog Circuit Design (preferred).
  • Relevant Circuit Design course with applied experience in circuit design.
  • Relevant Analog Circuit Design course (preferred).
  • Use of Cadence and Spice tools.
  • Understanding of VHDL, Python, Perl, and TCL.
  • Understanding of interface terminology such as NMZ, PAM4, CTLE, DFE, PLLs, RX, and TX (preferred).
