TL;DR · GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer

As a GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer within the Silicon Technologies group, you will support the power activity of high-performance, power-efficient GPU development. You will develop micro-architectural level energy models for early power estimation, what-if analysis, performance per watt tradeoff analysis, and power targets. Your daily responsibilities include analyzing power consumption across the GPU to identify reduction opportunities, developing tools for measurement and visualization, and conducting directed studies to prototype architectural improvements. You will collaborate with driver, compiler, app engineers, architects, and designers to drive power reduction techniques through software or micro-architectural changes. The role requires expertise in computer architecture, low power ASIC design, and PPA tradeoffs. Required technical skills include proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages, while familiarity with Tableau and Splunk is considered a preferred qualification for this specialized hardware role.

What you'll do

  • Develop micro-architectural energy models for early power estimation and performance-per-watt tradeoff analysis.
  • Analyze GPU power consumption to identify specific opportunities for energy reduction.
  • Drive power reduction techniques across the stack through software and architectural improvements.
  • Develop tools to measure, visualize, and analyze GPU energy data.
  • Conduct directed studies to prototype architectural solutions for next-generation GPUs.
  • Evaluate PPA tradeoffs to optimize high-performance, power-efficient SoC designs.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture.
  • Experience investigating and evaluating PPA tradeoffs.
  • Knowledge of low power ASIC design.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience with Tableau and/or Splunk (preferred).
  • Ability to work well in a team and be productive under aggressive schedules (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, and well organized (preferred).
