GNC Engineer, Orbit Control

What you'll do

• Develop closed-loop trajectory control algorithms for orbit raise, station-keeping, and deorbit maneuvers.
• Write production-level C++ and Python code for satellite and ground segment software.
• Conduct simulation studies and on-orbit experiments to assess algorithm and configuration changes.
• Execute trade studies to inform hardware development and concepts of operations for new satellite generations.
• Support large-scale constellation maneuvers like shell lowering and respacing through analysis and feature development.
• Develop performance metrics and dashboards to monitor the health and status of the satellite fleet.
• Write technical documentation for programs, algorithms, and engineering analyses.
• Participate in the active operation of the satellite fleet.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering discipline, physics, math, or computer science.
• Strong fundamental understanding of dynamical systems.
• Software development experience in C++ and Python.
• Master's degree or PhD in a field relevant to this position (preferred).
• Expertise in orbital mechanics, relative orbital dynamics, maneuver planning, and collision avoidance (preferred).
• Familiarity with state-space methods, classical control theory, and trajectory optimization (preferred).
• Real world experience developing, debugging, and deploying software (preferred).
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
