Commercial Software eCommerce Engineering Manager

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a full-stack engineering team by providing mentorship and fostering a culture of excellence.
• Drive the technical roadmap for GM’s Commercial eCommerce platform including product catalog, billing, and payments.
• Translate business and functional requirements into robust system architectures and technical designs.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery from initial scoping through production issue resolution.
• Participate in code reviews and incident post-mortems to ensure high-quality engineering standards.
• Design fault-tolerant, event-driven architectures with a focus on data integrity and idempotent APIs.
• Integrate core services with external ecosystems such as payment processors, tax automation, and enterprise ERPs.
• Define strict SLIs/SLOs for mission-critical financial paths to ensure reliable production performance.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of experience in software development, product building, or similar domains.
• 3+ years of experience in engineering management.
• Expertise designing fault-tolerant, event-driven architectures with idempotent APIs and ordered messaging.
• Experience connecting core services with external ecosystems like payment processors, tax automation, and enterprise ERPs.
• Experience defining SLIs/SLOs for mission-critical financial paths and delivering operational wins.
• BS in CS, CE, EE, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of engineering management (preferred).
• MS or PhD in CS, CE, EE, or equivalent practical experience (preferred).
