As a GDMS Senior AI Governance & Risk Specialist, you will join the Agentic AI Governance team to manage risk, security, and compliance for large-scale enterprise AI deployments in the defense industry. You will perform comprehensive risk assessments, conduct governance audits, and ensure adherence to government regulations for generative AI, LLM-based applications, and agentic systems. Your daily work involves evaluating multi-agent architectures, tool-calling behaviors, and human-in-the-loop requirements while translating frameworks like NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, and the EU AI Act into actionable internal controls. You will utilize tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Purview, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google to monitor model performance and drift. This role bridges policy and technical implementation, ensuring that advanced autonomous systems remain safe and accountable while maintaining high operational velocity in a mission-critical environment.
Conduct and lead comprehensive AI risk assessments and governance audits for generative, LLM-based, and agentic applications.
Evaluate adherence to government and corporate policies regarding data governance, security controls, and model assurance.
Perform failure mode analysis on agentic systems including tool-calling behavior, autonomous decision loops, and adversarial prompt vulnerabilities.
Translate complex regulatory requirements like NIST AI RMF and ISO 42001 into actionable internal controls and assessment criteria.
Maintain the enterprise AI inventory, risk register, and shadow AI detection tracking systems.
Develop self-service governance tools, playbooks, and checklists to streamline adoption for low-risk AI use cases.
Monitor and mitigate risks related to AI data flows across corporate IT infrastructure and manage governance incidents.
Produce compliance reporting and evidence packages for internal audits and regulatory examinations.
What we're looking for
U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience in AI governance, technology risk, cybersecurity GRC, or AI/ML compliance.
Experience conducting AI risk assessments and governance audits for generative AI, LLM-based, and agentic applications.
Knowledge of frameworks including NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, MITRE ATLAS, and various international and federal AI regulations.
Hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Purview, OpenAI, Anthropic, and other open-source AI ecosystems.
Proficiency in evaluating agentic AI systems, including tool-calling, multi-agent architectures, and human-in-the-loop requirements.
Ability to translate complex technical risk into decision-ready information for senior management.
Certifications such as IAPP AIGP, CRISC, AAIR, or ISO 42001 are highly sought (preferred).
