The GCP Data Engineer joins the Enterprise Data Services organization to build the next generation of metadata-driven and agentic data solutions. In this role, you will design and build scalable, production-ready data pipelines and orchestration workflows on Google Cloud Platform. You will develop integrations between enterprise data platforms and governance systems to enable metadata discovery, lineage, and automation. Key responsibilities include embedding governance controls into engineering workflows and building reusable frameworks and APIs. You will utilize technologies including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Composer, Dataplex, Python, and SQL. The position requires expertise in CI/CD, DataOps, and DevSecOps practices. You will also leverage AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot to support intelligent automation and improve business processes through governed metadata and scalable cloud data architecture.

What you'll do

Build scalable, production-ready data pipelines and orchestration workflows on Google Cloud Platform.
Develop integrations between enterprise data platforms and governance systems for metadata discovery and lineage.
Design and deploy secure, reliable, and cost-efficient cloud-based data solutions.
Embed governance controls into engineering workflows through metadata capture and policy enforcement.
Build reusable frameworks, APIs, and platform services to accelerate enterprise standardization.
Drive engineering excellence using CI/CD, automation, testing, observability, and DataOps practices.
Develop intelligent automation solutions that leverage governed metadata and business context.

What we're looking for

Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, and orchestration technologies.
Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering, automation, API development, and scalable data processing.
Experience building and supporting enterprise data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data services.
Understanding of software engineering best practices including source control, testing, CI/CD, and modular application design.
Experience designing and implementing secure, production-grade cloud solutions.
Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and the ability to effectively evaluate and apply AI-generated solutions.
Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
