TL;DR · Gas & Chemical Technical Facilities Engineer

The Gas & Chemical Technical Facilities Engineer provides technical leadership in the planning, design, configuration, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of gas and chemical distribution systems. This role involves overseeing system safety and uptime, monitoring third-party provider performance, and performing root cause analysis using 8D methodology to resolve business interruptions. The engineer manages project scopes, budgets, and schedules while providing technical direction to design engineers and coordinating with stakeholders like building owners and utilities. Key responsibilities include evaluating system capacities, reviewing construction designs, and ensuring compliance with fire, building, and environmental codes. Required skills include experience with PLC based controls systems, AutoCAD, MS Excel, and CMMS tools like IBM Maximo. The role addresses the critical challenge of maintaining high-purity hazardous gas distribution infrastructure within a semiconductor manufacturing environment to ensure continuous production.

What you'll do

  • Oversee the operations, maintenance, and safety of gas and chemical distribution systems to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Monitor third-party maintenance provider performance and report on key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate with multiple internal and external groups to meet project requirements and minimize business interruptions.
  • Perform problem solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis using the 8D methodology.
  • Evaluate system capacities and capabilities to provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Forecast budget spending and review supplier invoices for gas and chemical projects.
  • Identify and scope projects related to safety, compliance, capacity, redundancy, and cost savings.
  • Provide technical direction to design engineers during the project conceptual design phase.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of semiconductor or high purity hazardous gas facilities management experience, or more than 7 years of general facilities management experience.
  • Experience as a facilities engineer in the semiconductor industry (preferred).
  • Industrial gas and chemical delivery experience or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of gas distribution systems and PLC based controls systems.
  • Knowledge of local Fire, Building, and Environmental codes.
  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of SPC, 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, and other tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and CMMS (e.g., IBM Maximo).
