Full Stack Engineer, Builder Experience

What you'll do

• Design and build tools to help Stripe teams shape products, ship faster, and learn from users.
• Develop AI-native workflows and agents to automate repetitive work and synthesize context for builders.
• Own projects end-to-end by identifying problems, developing prototypes, testing with users, and scaling successful solutions.
• Build across the full stack, including backend systems, data sources, internal platforms, and user-facing experiences.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand practical workflows and identify systemic sources of friction.
• Integrate with internal platforms like Kai and Compass while identifying needs for new foundational capabilities.
• Apply engineering judgment to ensure security, privacy, permissions, and system reliability for sensitive internal context.
• Contribute to the team roadmap by defining technical foundations and standards for experimentation and quality.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience.
• Demonstrated technical experience leading the design and delivery of new product experiences from prototype to production.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills, including building reliable backend services and polished user-facing product experiences.
• Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments by framing problems and making right-sized technical decisions.
• Excellent cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration skills to align teams with different priorities and constraints.
• Strong engineering judgment regarding system reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability.
• A product-minded approach to engineering focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for users and the business.
• Experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript (preferred).
• Experience delivering user-facing products at Stripe or prior to Stripe (preferred).
• Experience working on 0→1 products or taking new capabilities from concept through launch and iteration (preferred).
