Staff Software Engineer, Consumer Preference

What you'll do

• Define and drive the technical strategy for Link Consumer to align near-term delivery with a long-term engineering vision.
• Lead large, ambiguous 0→1 initiatives from initial problem definition and architecture through implementation and launch.
• Design, build, and maintain polished user interfaces, reliable backend services, and APIs.
• Identify technical risks and dependencies early to create incremental plans that de-risk the product roadmap.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to build alignment and influence shared system roadmaps and priorities.
• Establish code patterns and standards for React, JavaScript, CSS, GraphQL, Ruby APIs, and LLM-powered systems.
• Define operational processes and lead the response to production issues across multiple levels of the stack.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience owning large, ambiguous systems end-to-end.
• Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of large, complex software projects from early definition through production launch.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills including building reliable backend services and polished user-facing product experiences.
• Experience leading and unblocking a group of engineers on a substantial project as a senior individual contributor.
• Ability to operate in high-ambiguity environments by framing problems and making durable technical decisions.
• Excellent cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration skills to align teams with different systems and priorities.
• Strong engineering judgment regarding system reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability.
• Experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript (preferred); experience building payments, fintech, or regulated financial products (preferred).
