TL;DR · Field Systems Engineer, Photomask Production Systems

Field Systems Engineer - Photomask Production Systems serves as the primary technical focal point for high-value problems, customer escalations, and critical system recovery efforts across ALTA Photomask Laser Writer and Sigma Meltec product lines. The role involves leading root cause analysis for complex issues involving optical, laser, electrical, mechanical, software, process, and controls subsystems. You will develop engineering solutions to improve reliability and maintainability while supporting site activities including installation, calibration, and validation of new hardware and software. Key responsibilities include creating troubleshooting guides, technical manuals, and training materials while collaborating with cross-functional teams on product improvements. The position requires expertise in semiconductor capital equipment, lithography systems, laser optics, precision motion control, imaging systems, and vacuum systems to solve intricate manufacturing problems within the photomask production domain.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary technical focal point for high-value problems, customer escalations, and critical system recovery efforts.
  • Lead root cause analysis and investigations for complex issues involving optical, laser, electrical, mechanical, software, and process subsystems.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions to improve system reliability, maintainability, serviceability, and customer productivity.
  • Support Alpha and Beta site activities including installation, calibration, qualification, and validation of new hardware and software.
  • Create technical documentation such as troubleshooting guides, product manuals, and internal service bulletins.
  • Analyze performance and reliability data to identify trends and drive continuous product improvements.
  • Develop training materials and deliver technical training to field service personnel and customer engineers.
  • Identify critical spare parts requirements and coordinate with supply chain teams to establish stocking strategies.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Sciences, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4-7 years of experience supporting semiconductor capital equipment, photomask manufacturing equipment, lithography systems, laser systems, or related advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical, optical, laser, software, and process systems in a customer-facing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical escalations, cross-functional problem-solving efforts, and customer-critical recovery activities.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis, reliability improvement methodologies, and engineering change management processes.
  • Excellent communication, project leadership, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Experience with ALTA Photomask Laser Writer systems or Sigma Meltec products (preferred); knowledge of laser optics, motion control, and vacuum systems (preferred).
