Fiber Align Engineer

What you'll do

• Drive the automation and scalability of optical transceiver manufacturing processes.
• Design process flows and automation for critical equipment including active alignment and fiber attach methods.
• Lead design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-cost (DFC) initiatives to optimize production.
• Identify and deploy specialized equipment for advanced optics manufacturing such as CPO and NPO.
• Manage the transition of manufacturing processes from New Product Introduction (NPI) to stable production.
• Define, evaluate, and qualify capital equipment in coordination with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
• Develop automated assembly solutions using tools like Solidworks or AutoCAD to improve repeatability and efficiency.
• Perform technical analyses including DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and capability studies for optical assembly.

What we're looking for

• BS/MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Optics/Photonics, Materials, Physics, or a related field.
• Significant experience in process engineering for optics, opto-electronics, or semiconductor packaging with a focus on equipment design and NPI.
• Demonstrated experience defining, evaluating, and qualifying capital equipment with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
• Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills including DFM, DFC, and manufacturing cost modeling.
• Experience with fiber attach and optical alignment systems, including automated assembly process development and qualification (DOE, SPC, PFMEA).
• Hands-on machine design skills using Solidworks, Autocad, or equivalent software (preferred).
• Proven ability to develop automated manufacturing solutions that improve repeatability, efficiency, and scale (preferred).
• Knowledge of machining/tool manufacturing methods, tolerance analysis, and advanced optics concepts like CPO/NPO (preferred).
