The FAE - Embedded x86 Specialist joins the Embedded Sales team to provide technical support for sales teams, customers, and partners within a defined region. This role manages all aspects of x86 embedded technical engagements, focusing on pre-sales activities to win new designs and post-sales support to defend existing wins. The individual will lead technical discussions, resolve issues from design to mass production, perform benchmarking analysis, and provide guidance for hardware and software performance improvements. Key responsibilities include providing technical training, evaluating competitive platforms, and conducting on-site meetings. Required expertise includes the x86 product portfolio, operating systems like Windows and Linux, compilers, and system architecture. The role addresses challenges in embedded systems, including APU technology, ROCm AI flows, and applications across industrial, edge, telco, and automotive sectors to optimize performance for various customer platforms.
Provide technical support and guidance to sales teams, customers, and partners regarding x86 embedded products.
Lead technical discussions and resolve issues for platforms from the design phase through mass production.
Conduct performance and benchmarking analysis to support new customer opportunities and win designs.
Debug and optimize customer designs specifically for AMD processor architecture.
Provide hardware and software recommendations to improve platform performance.
Deliver technical training and presentations on AMD roadmaps and technologies to internal and external audiences.
Perform research and evaluation on competitive platforms, applications, and emerging technologies.
Support regional events through hardware demonstrations, presentations, and customer meetings.
What we're looking for
Candidates must have a degree in a technical subject area like Engineering or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess a broad technical understanding of AMD’s x86 product portfolio with a focus on embedded devices.
Must have specialized knowledge of end-user hardware and software environments, including Windows, Linux, compilers, and benchmarks.
Requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to build relationships with internal teams and external customers.
Must possess strong problem-solving skills to manage complex issues involving multi-disciplined, cross-functional teams.
Preferred experience includes system design, x86 processor technology, hardware design, and embedded systems.
Preferred expertise in areas such as embedded software ecosystems, system architecture, APU technology, and AI flows.
Experience in networking, storage, test and measurement, industrial, edge/telco, or automotive fields is a plus.
