JOB TITLE: Embedded Systems Engineer - x86 Platforms
The Embedded Systems Engineer - x86 Platforms joins the Embedded Sales team to provide technical support for customers, partners, and sales teams within a defined region. This role focuses on winning new designs and supporting existing wins by leading technical discussions from design to mass production. Key responsibilities include hardware platform development, debug assistance, performance benchmarking, and optimizing designs for AMD processor architecture. The successful candidate will utilize knowledge of x86 processor technology, Windows and Linux operating systems, compilers, and benchmarks. They will also provide technical guidance on system architecture, APU technology, and ROCm AI flows. The role solves complex technical problems across various domains, including industrial, edge, telco, and automotive applications, while providing technical training and research on competitive platforms.
Provide technical support for AMD Sales Teams, customers, and partners within a defined region.
Lead technical discussions and resolve issues for platforms based on AMD embedded products from design to mass production.
Conduct performance and benchmarking analysis to support new customer opportunities and design wins.
Debug and optimize customer designs for AMD processor architecture.
Provide technical guidance and recommendations for hardware and software platform performance improvements.
Deliver technical training and presentations on AMD roadmaps and technologies to customers and internal teams.
Perform research and evaluation on competitive platforms, applications, and emerging technologies.
Support regional events through hardware demonstrations and customer meetings.
What we're looking for
Undergraduate or advanced degree in a technical subject area like Engineering or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Broad technical understanding of AMD’s x86 product portfolio, specifically embedded devices for new platforms.
Specialized knowledge of end-user hardware and software environments, including Windows, Linux, compilers, benchmarks, and targeted applications.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a balance of hardware, architecture, and software expertise.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex problems involving multi-disciplined, cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong internal and external relationship-building success.
Ability to travel within the region, with approximately 25% travel possible.
Knowledge of system design, x86 processor technology, hardware design, benchmarks, embedded systems, or graphics (preferred).
