What you'll do

  • Define CPU architectures specifically designed for embedded applications across various Apple products.
  • Model architectural solutions that balance performance, power efficiency, and area constraints.
  • Assess the feasibility of micro-architecture and RTL ideas through detailed modeling.
  • Correlate RTL designs with CPU performance simulators to ensure accuracy and target achievement.
  • Analyze specific workloads across product categories to identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in unique embedded use cases.
  • Maintain and improve simulation and correlation environments to enable data-driven decisions.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in CPU and SOC architecture and micro-architecture
  • Experience with performance simulation environments
  • Object-oriented programming skills in C/C++
  • Experience in a scripting language such as Perl or Python
  • Expertise in CPU microarchitecture in branch prediction, prefetching, pipeline optimization, datapath, or memory hierarchy (preferred)
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred)
  • MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science (preferred)
