The Equipment Reliability Engineer (Starship) joins the team to manage critical production assets used to build, integrate, and test aerospace products. This role focuses on maximizing equipment availability by developing maintenance strategies, creating comprehensive spare parts BOMs, and integrating machines into the Internet of Things for real-time monitoring. The engineer will perform Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis to address high-consequence failures while coordinating cross-functionally to drive design iterations and equipment overhauls. Key responsibilities include establishing maintenance KPIs like OEE, MTBF, and MTTR. Candidates should possess an engineering degree and experience with industrial automation, mechanical, fluid, and electrical components. Technical proficiency includes Microsoft SQL, PowerBI, CMMS programs such as Maximo or SAP, and the ability to interpret P&ID, GD&T, and equipment schematics for manufacturing and test environments.
Develop and refine preventive maintenance programs and spare parts selection for critical production equipment.
Integrate machines into IoT systems and install sensors for real-time performance monitoring.
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to engineer solutions for repetitive or high-consequence failures.
Conduct Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to create proactive reliability programs.
Establish maintenance and reliability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive organizational efficiency.
Oversee the onboarding, commissioning, and release of reliability programs for new equipment.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure maintainability is integrated into newly designed tools and automation.
Provide technical support and manage data collection requests for production and maintenance personnel.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
1+ years of experience in manufacturing, reliability, or operations.
5+ years of experience in a maintenance engineering role and reliability in high-volume manufacturing, testing, or operational environments (preferred).
Hands-on experience with equipment control systems, machinery, tooling, and industrial automation (preferred).
Developed understanding of mechanical, fluid, and electrical component functions (preferred).
Experience using Microsoft SQL and PowerBI (preferred).
Ability to read and understand equipment schematics, P&ID, GD&T, and OEM manuals (preferred).
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
