The Enterprise AI Architect is a senior individual contributor role within the Enterprise Architecture organization at a global materials science company. You will define the enterprise AI architecture strategy, establishing reference architectures, standards, and roadmaps to enable scalable, secure, and responsible AI adoption across manufacturing, R&D, and corporate functions. Your daily work involves developing integrated application and technology architectures, mentoring teams, and providing technical leadership for generative AI, intelligent agents, and automation. You will utilize skills in Azure Databricks, MLflow, and Microsoft 365 Copilot while applying frameworks like TOGAF. The role solves the complex business problem of transforming artificial intelligence into real business value by ensuring AI capabilities are grounded in governed enterprise data and aligned with long-term organizational objectives.
Develop enterprise AI reference architectures, standards, roadmaps, and blueprints to align with business strategy.
Define integrated AI architecture capabilities across data, applications, processes, technology platforms, and governance.
Provide architectural direction and reusable patterns for AI, generative AI, intelligent agents, and automation.
Establish standards for building AI agents grounded on governed enterprise data and open interoperability patterns.
Run architecture governance to ensure strategic AI initiatives align with enterprise principles and target-state architectures.
Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and supplier capabilities to advance enterprise AI adoption.
Mentor architects and technology teams through position papers and thought leadership on AI best practices.
Communicate complex technology concepts to executives and stakeholders to build alignment on investment priorities.
What we're looking for
Must have a bachelor’s degree, relevant military experience at or above U.S. E5 ranking, or 16 years of experience.
Degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (preferred).
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, reference architectures, roadmaps, and governance processes in large, complex organizations.
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale AI, machine learning, analytics, automation, or digital transformation solutions.
Experience influencing technology strategy, architecture decisions, and investment priorities across multiple business functions and technology domains.
Experience working with business capabilities, end-to-end business processes, and enterprise transformation.
Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, energy, or other complex operational environments (preferred).
