Engineering Manager, Ruby and Rails Infrastructure

What you'll do

• Manage a team of 6-12 individual contributors in a remote-first environment.
• Solve complex language and framework problems to scale the world's largest Rails application.
• Coach and grow developers to maintain a high-performing engineering team.
• Make technical decisions regarding the scaling of the Ruby language and Rails framework.
• Align language and framework investments with meaningful business outcomes by partnering with product teams.
• Recruit and hire high-quality candidates to grow the Ruby and Rails Infrastructure team.
• Contribute to the performance, stability, and evolution of Ruby and Rails both internally and upstream.

What we're looking for

• Engineering management experience.
• Deep technical expertise in programming language internals or web framework development, or substantial experience managing teams with this expertise.
• Experience with Ruby and/or Ruby on Rails is preferred.
• Experience writing Ruby and Rails code in large-scale production environments (preferred).
• Experience contributing to Ruby, Rails, or related open-source projects (preferred).
• History of technical writing or speaking about Ruby and Rails related topics (preferred).
• Experience managing remote or globally distributed engineering teams (preferred).
