Engineering Manager, AI Developer Tools

What you'll do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers building AI-powered tools such as coding, testing, and deployment agents.
• Define and track DORA and SPACE metrics to measure and improve developer productivity across the organization.
• Establish CI/CD policies and standards that balance development velocity with safety for AI-assisted workflows.
• Drive technical strategy for scalable backend services and APIs using Java and Python.
• Conduct user research with engineering teams to identify pain points and prioritize the product roadmap.
• Evolve platform architectures for reliability and performance while managing technical debt and build-vs-buy decisions.
• Establish engineering excellence standards including code review practices, testing strategies, and operational readiness.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent specializing in AI agent development and developer tooling.

What we're looking for

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of engineering management experience leading teams building backend systems or developer tools.
• At least 5 years of recent hands-on software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in Java and Python.
• Deep familiarity with AI agent frameworks and patterns such as LangChain, Claude Agent SDK, Pydantic AI, or equivalent.
• Experience defining and using developer productivity metrics like DORA and SPACE to drive improvements.
• Track record of setting CI/CD policies and infrastructure automation standards for engineering organizations.
• Experience with databases (relational and/or NoSQL) and scalable service architectures.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
