Engineering Group Manager: Systems Engineering - Body Controls Systems leads a multidisciplinary Mechatronics/Body Systems engineering team focused on the development of Lighting and Visibility and Secure Vehicle Access products. The role involves managing system definition, requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and launch readiness for components like closures, interior and exterior lighting, power glass, and shades. You will oversee technical direction including hardware/software allocation, diagnostic communication, and safety-critical functions while ensuring compliance with vehicle regulations. Key responsibilities include governing Rhapsody models, managing risk through DFMEAs and fault trees, and coordinating cross-functional problem solving across software, hardware, and manufacturing teams. The role requires expertise in embedded controls, system design, and functional safety processes like ISO26262 to solve complex interactions between vehicle controls and physical hardware realizations within the body electronics space.
Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the lifecycle of lighting, visibility, and secure vehicle access systems.
Define technical strategy including system architecture, hardware/software allocation, and communication dependencies across various vehicle platforms.
Establish and manage traceable system requirements from high-level features down to specific hardware and software components.
Oversee verification and validation strategies for nominal, degraded, and failed-component conditions to ensure product reliability.
Partner with safety organizations to conduct hazard analyses and ensure all safety goals are met before production.
Manage regulatory compliance by translating vehicle standards into engineering requirements and ensuring all certification evidence is documented.
Drive cross-functional problem solving with hardware, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve complex system issues.
Mentor and develop engineers through coaching, performance management, and technical review of work products.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience in system design, calibration, embedded controls, data analytics, warranty analysis, or complex automotive systems.
Working knowledge of automotive system design and best practices.
Working knowledge of functional safety, product safety, hazard analysis, DFMEA, fault-tree analysis, and diagnostic strategies.
Experience translating vehicle regulations and standards into engineering requirements and compliance evidence.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical decisions and resolve complex cross-functional issues involving hardware, software, and suppliers.
Demonstrated experience leading systems engineering activities including architecture, integration, verification, validation, and launch readiness.
Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA (preferred); 5+ years of leadership experience; and expertise in MBSE or ISO26262 (preferred).
