TL;DR · Electrical Manufacturing Engineer

The Electrical Manufacturing Engineer joins the Manufacturing Engineering team to bridge the gap between complex electrical architecture and physical hardware production for defense systems like autonomous flight vehicles and sensor payloads. This role serves as the technical authority for Circuit Card Assemblies, where you will drive rigorous DFM, DFA, and DFT processes during New Product Introduction and rate production. You will perform board layout reviews in Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro, develop diagnostic scripts using Python and Bash, and manage embedded hardware bring-up on platforms like AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+. Key responsibilities include defining manufacturing test strategies for ICT and JTAG, ensuring IPC-A-610 compliance, and performing root-cause failure analysis. You will also partner with EMS suppliers to ensure high-yield production of mission-critical electronics while managing transition from eBOMs to mBOMs within Teamcenter.

What you'll do

  • Optimize complex multilayer rigid and rigid-flex boards for automated SMT production through DFM and DFA reviews.
  • Define manufacturing test strategies including ICT, flying probe, boundary scan, and functional verification tests.
  • Develop Python and Bash scripts to execute diagnostic telemetry and support hardware verification during initial bring-up.
  • Perform root-cause failure analysis on production fallout using X-ray inspection and microsection evaluation.
  • Manage and audit external EMS partners to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and high-reliability aerospace standards.
  • Transition engineering BOMs into production-ready manufacturing BOMs while ensuring component traceability in PLM systems.
  • Author standard operating procedures for electronics handling, ESD control, and wire harness assembly.

What we're looking for

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical manufacturing, PCBA industrialization, or hardware engineering roles.
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools including Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics/PADS.
  • Hands-on experience with SMT manufacturing, DFM principles, and rigid/rigid-flex board production.
  • Experience defining test coverage, test point guidelines, and manufacturing test strategies like ICT and JTAG.
  • Proficiency in Python or Bash for automated hardware interaction and test log parsing.
  • Hands-on experience debugging and testing over standard interfaces including CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART, and JTAG.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 electronic assembly standards.
  • U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
  • 5+ years of experience taking complex electronic systems from NPI through full-rate production (preferred).
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+, FPGA architectures, or high-speed digital designs (preferred).
  • Familiarity with military and aerospace compliance standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-704 (preferred).
  • Experience with complex board architectures including 12+ layer boards, HDI, and blind/buried microvias (preferred).
  • Experience using Siemens Teamcenter, modern ERP/MES platforms, and Jira (preferred).
  • IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 Application Specialist or Trainer certification (preferred).
