TL;DR · Domain Architect, Applications and Integration

The Domain Architect, Applications and Integration joins the Global Commercial Business Technology Services team to oversee the ecosystem roadmap, architecture standards, and design review operations for middleware, API governance, and cross-platform interoperability. This role involves managing integration platform lifecycles, establishing API design standards, and adjudicating interface ownership across various domains. The architect will develop training materials, resolve technical conflicts, and manage the transition from legacy systems to modern architectures. Key responsibilities include overseeing contract-first development, event schemas, and agentic patterns while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards. Required expertise includes experience with MuleSoft or Apigee, as well as proficiency in synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven integration patterns. The role addresses complex technical challenges within a regulated pharmaceutical environment, focusing on streamlining the CRM estate, content systems, and field operations through robust data platform interfaces and automated workflows.

What you'll do

  • Manage the multi-year roadmap for integration middleware and the custom application ecosystem.
  • Establish and enforce API governance standards, including design, versioning, security, and contract-first development.
  • Lead design reviews to ensure all integration and custom application initiatives comply with architecture standards.
  • Develop training materials and provide technical mentorship to delivery teams and product architects.
  • Resolve high-impact technical issues and adjudicate conflicts regarding interface ownership and integration methods.
  • Drive the rationalization of duplicate interfaces and conduct build, buy, or wait analyses for new capabilities.
  • Define and maintain architecture standards for data platform contracts, ensuring systems consume mastered data by reference.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of integration platforms, including version currency, deprecation plans, and legacy system retirement.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 9 years of experience; Master's with 8 years; or PhD with 4 years.
  • Experience in enterprise, domain, or solution architecture focused on integration or API platform architecture at enterprise scale.
  • Deep architectural experience with at least one enterprise API management or integration platform such as MuleSoft or Apigee.
  • Demonstrated command of enterprise integration patterns including synchronous, asynchronous, event-driven, batch, and file integrations.
  • Experience establishing API governance, contract-first practices, versioning policies, and searchable catalogs in an organization.
  • Experience rationalizing duplicate interfaces and understanding the boundaries between integration architecture and data platform architecture.
  • Experience authoring architecture standards and roadmaps while leading architectural review boards as a governance participant.
  • Experience in regulated industries like pharmaceutical, healthcare, or financial services with knowledge of compliance and security.
  • Master's Degree or broad architecture certification (TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect Professional) (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture with at least 5 years focused on integration or API platforms (preferred).
  • Specific certifications like MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect (preferred).
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture, serverless patterns, container orchestration, or AI and agent integration patterns (preferred).
