TL;DR · Director, Technical Program Management

The Director, Technical Program Management leads large-scale programs involving multiple dependencies across diverse work areas. This role involves defining goals, stage gates, and critical delivery paths while securing commitments for scopes, dates, and resources. You will resolve ambiguous situations involving conflicting business and product strategies, mentor team members, and drive initiatives to improve ways of working. Key responsibilities include translating requirements into software design, architecture, and platform capabilities while managing cloud infrastructure, pipeline orchestration, and database systems. You will utilize Site Reliability Engineering concepts, ITIL frameworks, and observability tools to ensure quality outcomes for new initiatives and legacy system retirements. The role requires deep domain knowledge to conduct impact analysis, manage budgets, and navigate complex technical designs to achieve business goals through modular, extensible, and functional solutions.

What you'll do

  • Define goals, stage gates, critical delivery paths, and key deliverables for large-scale programs with complex dependencies.
  • Secure commitments for program scopes, delivery dates, and resources while managing cross-functional dependencies.
  • Lead and broker agreement on end-to-end high-level system solution designs for medium-to-high complexity systems.
  • Identify system limitations, scaling factors, and boundary conditions to rationalize overall architectural decisions.
  • Establish processes and guidelines for effective defect management, including visibility, prioritization, and prevention.
  • Drive monitoring for multiple programs by decomposing performance metrics into measurable project-level indicators.
  • Identify key risks, determine severity, and create mitigation plans to unblock programs with minimal guidance.
  • Automate repeatable processes and implement tools to reduce overhead and increase engineering team velocity.

What we're looking for

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related area and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have 9 years of experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, or product management.
  • Must possess knowledge of program management techniques, tools, frameworks, and benefits analysis.
  • Must have knowledge of software requirements translation, system design, cloud infrastructure, and database/network concepts.
  • Must have knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering concepts, including observability, monitoring, and incident management.
  • Must have knowledge of risk management, project tracking, financial management, and change management methodologies.
  • Must have knowledge of data analysis, research, and fact-based decision-making techniques.
  • Must have knowledge of stakeholder identification, engagement, and relationship management techniques.
  • Must have a Project Management certification (preferred).
  • Must have an MBA with a specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, or information systems and 5 years of product design experience (preferred).
