TL;DR · Director, Rack Scale Software Architecture

As the Director, Rack Scale Software Architecture, you will lead and manage a team responsible for rack-scale system software architecture within an expanding ecosystem of data center platform and node designs. You will drive end-to-end software architecture for products involving firmware, kernel drivers, operating systems, networking, fabrics, and user mode drivers while translating product roadmaps into formal requirements. The role involves collaborating with internal component leads and external hyperscalar cloud service providers to align technical roadmaps. You will manage complex system software for accelerators like GPUs, DPUs, or FPGAs, utilizing knowledge of Ethernet, InfiniBand, CXL, and UCIE architectures. Key responsibilities include making critical technical decisions under ambiguity, providing mentorship, and ensuring high-quality software across the product lifecycle. The role solves architectural challenges in large-scale cluster deployments and multi-node NVLink domain rack architectures for enterprise and cloud providers.

What you'll do

  • Drive the end-to-end software architecture for NVIDIA's rack-scale products.
  • Translate product roadmaps into formal software requirements to guide organizational execution.
  • Serve as a trusted architectural partner to ensure high quality and reliable software across teams.
  • Engage with major customers to align their requirements with NVIDIA’s product roadmap.
  • Present the team vision and technical strategy to senior internal and external leaders.
  • Provide technical leadership and career mentorship to the engineering team.
  • Make critical technical decisions in complex environments involving ambiguity.

What we're looking for

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in system architecture and design.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in management.
  • Deep experience designing architecture for scalable and performant server systems at the software/hardware interface.
  • Experience working with complex system software for accelerators such as GPUs, DPUs, or FPGAs.
  • Proven leadership skills and ownership over large-scale, sophisticated codebases.
  • Strong interactive, verbal, and written communication skills to engage with internal teams and external customers.
  • Ability to make key technical decisions while operating in a highly matrixed organization.
