Director of Software Engineering, HR Technologies

What you'll do

• Set the engineering vision and roadmap for the Talent Acquisition platform to balance user experience, reliability, and control.
• Lead multiple cross-functional engineering teams including hiring, coaching, performance management, and organizational design.
• Drive platform architecture modernization using cloud-native patterns, domain-driven service boundaries, and API/event strategies.
• Own end-to-end delivery and operations, ensuring production readiness, incident management, reliability SLOs, and cost governance.
• Oversee integrations into HR workforce systems, workflow tooling, identity systems, and external vendor platforms.
• Establish and enforce engineering governance, including secure coding standards, SDLC controls, and measurable engineering KPIs.
• Manage third-party vendor relationships, including technical fit, security posture, and commercial accountability.
• Direct the adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices and SDLC automation to improve speed and quality.

What we're looking for

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within a domain of expertise.
• Proven track record leading mission-critical platforms with high availability, operational excellence, and measurable outcomes.
• Experience delivering modern web and API platforms, including distributed systems, microservices, and integration-heavy domains.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native engineering, including AWS or equivalent, reliability, security, cost management, and SDLC automation.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and align senior business, product, and technology stakeholders on strategy, risks, and delivery.
• Hands-on understanding of engineering controls, security, identity/access management, data privacy, and audit/compliance expectations.
• Experience leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices and responsible AI use within engineering workflows.
