As the Director of Software Engineering-Data Protection & Recovery within the Infrastructure Platforms Foundation Services Data Protection & Recovery Product Line, you will lead a critical data engineering function to safeguard and manage essential firm assets. You will drive the strategy, design, and delivery of large-scale data solutions focused on backup, recovery, resiliency, and regulatory compliance. Your daily responsibilities include overseeing data lineage, quality, governance, and lifecycle management while building scalable pipelines, datasets, and reporting capabilities across multiple platforms. You will utilize Java, Python, and cloud-native engineering practices to solve complex technical challenges. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, modern data lakes, and analytics solutions using tools like Databricks or Snowflake. You will also integrate AI-enabled engineering practices and automation while ensuring all products meet firmwide security, risk, and operational resiliency requirements across diverse technology domains.
Lead the design, development, and implementation of large-scale data engineering solutions for the Data Protection & Recovery Product Line.
Drive initiatives focused on data lineage, quality, completeness, governance, and lifecycle management across multiple platforms.
Establish technical strategy, architecture direction, and engineering standards for all data engineering initiatives.
Lead teams in building scalable data pipelines, datasets, data services, and reporting capabilities for critical business functions.
Deliver technical solutions that meet firmwide security, risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Drive engineering excellence through modern software development practices, automation, and operational rigor.
Lead the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices to improve delivery speed and quality.

What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of applied software engineering experience designing and delivering complex technology solutions.
Strong hands-on software engineering background with experience developing applications using Java, Python, and/or other modern programming languages.
Experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale data platforms, data pipelines, and distributed systems.
Strong understanding of data lineage, quality, completeness, governance, metadata management, and lifecycle management.
Practical cloud-native engineering experience.
Knowledge of responsible AI practices and governance considerations within software engineering and data environments.
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, or other enterprise-scale database technologies (preferred).
