TL;DR · Director, Mission Systems, Advanced Effects

Director, Mission Systems, Advanced Effects joins the Air Dominance and Strike team to oversee seeker and sensing systems for advanced effects mission systems. This role involves delivering mission outcomes through the selection, sourcing, and validation of mission-relevant payloads and systems. The successful candidate will conduct trades for communications, sensing, and effector systems while architecting multi-function payload concepts, requirements, and layouts. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing physics-based models of system performance, managing subcontractors or internal teams to drive technical performance, and creating IRAD plans for proposals. Required expertise includes radar, EO/IR, RF, and EW systems, along with experience in payload integration and validation. Preferred skills include proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, COMSOL, or Ansys, as well as knowledge of secure line-of-sight communications, LIDAR, and missile design to solve complex autonomous air system challenges.

What you'll do

  • Select, source, and validate mission-relevant payloads and systems for autonomous air programs.
  • Conduct trade studies for communication, sensing, and effector systems to achieve specific mission outcomes.
  • Architect multi-function payload concepts including requirements, layouts, interfaces, and employment strategies.
  • Develop and adapt physics-based models of payload performance for use in modeling and simulation tools.
  • Manage subcontractors and internal teams to define subsystem requirements and ensure timely technical performance.
  • Validate system performance in coordination with test and integration engineers.
  • Create IRAD plans and develop creative scopes for proposals and execution.

What we're looking for

  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Must have 10+ years of experience in a relevant Science or Engineering related field.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in payload integration and validation.
  • Must possess domain expertise in communications, sensors, or effector systems (Radar, EO/IR, RF, or EW).
  • Must be able to perform physics-based modeling and analysis of system performance.
  • Preferred: Advanced proficiency in analytical toolchains or languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, COMSOL, or Ansys.
  • Preferred: Experience with missile design and integration.
  • Preferred: Experience with advanced communications (e.g., secure LPx line-of-sight, beyond line-of-sight, tactical data links).
