Director, Data Science

What you'll do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of optimization models for assortment, inventory, pricing, and supply chain.
• Translate complex operational constraints and business objectives into tractable, production-ready optimization problem statements.
• Align data science projects with organizational strategies to meet stakeholder needs and deliver measurable commercial impact.
• Guide the team in applying specific optimization methods like linear programming, mixed-integer programming, and stochastic optimization.
• Establish best practices for model evaluation, scenario analysis, and rigorous testing methodologies like A/B testing and causal measurement.
• Coach and develop data scientists on technical skills, communication, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
• Proactively identify business opportunities and risks based on data and industry trends to provide recommended courses of action.
• Design clear interfaces between model recommendations and human decision workflows to drive business adoption of DS outputs.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, or a closely related quantitative field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a people leadership role managing a team of Data Scientists or Analysts.
• Demonstrated expertise in optimization methods and their applied use in retail or consumer goods contexts.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with optimization libraries (e.g., PuLP, OR-Tools, Gurobi, CPLEX, SciPy) and ML frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data and compute platforms such as GCP, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Proven track record of delivering production-grade DS or optimization solutions in a retail, e-commerce, or supply chain environment.
• Fluency in causal inference and experimentation, including A/B testing, DiD, and Synthetic Control.
