Director, Carrier Development joins the Supply and Marketplace division to lead the strategic evolution, capacity procurement, and growth of the carrier network. This leadership role involves managing a team of Carrier Development Managers to foster high-performing partnerships across Truckload, LTL, and Intermodal networks. The position focuses on the post-onboarding lifecycle, where you will develop joint business strategies with partners, advocate for the carrier community internally, and translate shipper demands into actionable capacity sourcing plans. You will navigate macro-market volatility while identifying network synergies to optimize marketplace health. Key requirements include extensive experience in logistics or 3PL, proficiency in data-analytics tools like Tableau and SQL, and deep knowledge of supply economics. The role solves critical problems regarding supply liquidity, carrier retention, and the integration of carrier technology into the broader freight ecosystem.
Develop and execute joint business strategies with strategic carrier partners to secure dedicated capacity and drive mutual growth.
Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Carrier Development Managers across multiple hubs.
Act as an internal advocate for the carrier community to improve product features and reduce operational friction.
Identify network-level patterns and multi-shipper synergies to optimize carrier routing and marketplace efficiency.
Translate internal business insights and shipper demands into actionable carrier development and capacity sourcing strategies.
Serve as a thought leader by presenting supply economics and partnership strategies to executive leadership.
Manage the post-onboarding lifecycle of existing accounts to increase volume and ensure long-term network stickiness.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to improve technology integration for the carrier network.
What we're looking for
8–10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, 3PL, digital brokerage, supply chain procurement, or carrier management.
5+ years of direct people management experience leading high-performing teams including relationship managers or carrier procurement professionals.
Deep operational fluency across North American markets with an understanding of carrier cost drivers and supply economics.
Proven track record of managing executive-level carrier relationships and driving joint business planning (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to identify structural efficiencies and multi-shipper synergies across fragmented supply chain networks (preferred).
Exceptional emotional intelligence and ability to navigate matrixed organizations to build internal partnerships (preferred).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a highly analytical field (preferred).
Advanced proficiency in data-analytics tools like Tableau, SQL, or Google Workspace (preferred); experience with Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Bulk, and Flatbed (preferred).
