The Deputy Lead Systems Engineer - SWIS joins the GD Mission Systems team to coordinate day-to-day systems engineering for the Strategic Weapon Interface Simulator. This role supports the future Columbia-class submarine fleet by providing simulation capabilities for Fire Control system development and fleet training. You will lead technical workstreams, manage requirements, architecture, and system design, and oversee integration, verification, and test activities. Key responsibilities include translating program priorities into executable plans, mentoring engineers, and troubleshooting complex system behaviors in lab environments. Required skills include systems engineering principles, requirements management using IBM DOORS, and experience with Linux, networking, and cyber hardening. You will solve technical problems by ensuring an integrated approach across hardware, software, and infrastructure to prepare the fleet for mission-critical capabilities.
Coordinate day-to-day systems engineering execution for the Strategic Weapon Interface Simulator.
Maintain an integrated technical approach across requirements, architecture, design, and hardware/software interfaces.
Lead selected technical workstreams and organize cross-functional engineering activities.
Review technical work products and drive technical risks and corrective actions to closure.
Translate program priorities into executable engineering plans and establish team ownership.
Provide technical inputs to schedules, estimates, earned value management, and program reviews.
Work with systems in lab environments to support integration, test, and troubleshooting activities.
Mentor engineers and strengthen engineering rigor across the broader team.

Must be able to work onsite in Pittsfield, MA.
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire (preferred).
Experience performing systems engineering across the development life cycle, including requirements, design, integration, and verification (preferred).
Experience coordinating technical work across software, hardware, infrastructure, cyber, or test disciplines (preferred).
Experience leading technical teams, managing requirements in IBM DOORS, or working with defense systems (preferred).
