The Database Administrator will join a team supporting the Administrative Office of the US Courts to manage mission-critical database environments. This role involves providing production support, including shift-based and on-call coverage, while monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing root-cause analysis for defects. Working within an Agile framework, the individual will develop operating standards, coordinate data elements, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications. Key responsibilities include developing stored procedures in SQL Server Management Studio, designing dimensional data models like snowflake schemas, and deploying ETL packages via CI/CD pipelines. The role requires proficiency in AWS technologies, including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, as well as Snowflake and Azure platforms. Additionally, the candidate will utilize Splunk for log indexing and dashboard creation while managing data migrations from legacy systems to multi-cloud environments.
Provide production support for mission-critical database environments including shift-based coverage and on-call rotations.
Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and perform root-cause analysis to ensure system stability.
Develop stored procedures, views, tables, and other database objects using SQL Server Management Studio.
Design and develop dimensional data models, including star/snowflake schemas and enterprise data marts.
Deploy ETL packages using CI/CD pipelines and manage version control via configuration management systems.
Index system logs in Splunk to create custom dashboards, alerts, and performance reports.
Perform data validation to ensure accuracy and integrity while conducting peer code reviews for the team.
Translate business requirements from stakeholders into technical specifications within an Agile development framework.
What we're looking for
At least 7 years of experience in server database maintenance, database analysis, or a similar role.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, or a related computer-based major (experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
Experience supporting production database systems, including shift-based coverage and on-call responsibilities.
Proficiency with AWS database technologies such as Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and other AWS-managed data services.
Experience with Snowflake and exposure to Azure cloud platform.
Expertise in database installation, configuration, administration, modeling, mapping, and migration from legacy systems to multi-cloud platforms.
Database or cloud certification such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect (preferred).
Knowledge of court operations and law enforcement business data (preferred).
