JOB TITLE: Cyber Security Watch Officer - Evenings The Digital Modernization sector is seeking a Cyber Security Watch Officer to join the GSM-O effort at the Pentagon. Working the evening shift, this role supports the Joint Network Operation and Support Center Battle Captain and Cyber Center Security Chief. Primary responsibilities include overseeing network defense operations, maintaining awareness of directives and alerts, and delivering daily situational awareness briefings. You will serve as a Defensive Cybersecurity SME, performing event triage, cyber incident handling, network analysis, threat detection, and trend analysis. The role requires proficiency in the DoD Cyber Security Service Provider methodology and an understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain. Candidates must possess a Secret clearance, DoD 8570 IAT II certification, and experience in Computer Incident Response involving protect, detect, respond, and sustain functions.

What you'll do

Oversee all network defense operations and maintain familiarity with the operations process flow.
Support the Battle Captain and Cyber Center Security Chief with cyber defense and network assurance issues.
Prepare and deliver daily situational awareness and operational update briefings.
Serve as a Defensive Cybersecurity SME during 24x7 operations.
Triage security events and perform cyber incident handling.
Conduct network analysis, threat detection, and trend analysis.
Develop metrics and disseminate vulnerability information.
Apply the DoD Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) methodology to mission requirements.

What we're looking for

Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
Active TS/SCI clearance is preferred.
Must possess a DoD 8570 IAT II or higher certification, such as Security+ CE, prior to start.
Must have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of professional experience.
Military or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Must have CND experience (Protect, Detect, Respond, and Sustain) within a Computer Incident Response organization.
Must have experience in a 24x7 environment and be available for swing shift work including weekends.
Must demonstrate understanding of network threats, attack vectors, and Cyber Kill Chain methodology.
