The Customer Solution Engineer joins the Windows Commercial Acceleration Engine team within the Windows Ecosystem and Commercial Engagement organization. In this hands-on engineering role, you will work directly with strategic enterprise customers to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex Windows technical challenges to improve install base health. You will build and implement technical prototypes, automation, tools, scripts, and configuration changes while providing actionable technical evidence for product fixes. Key responsibilities include managing device provisioning, deployment, OS updates, and security. You must possess technical expertise in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. You will also utilize PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Windows Performance Analyzer to troubleshoot issues and develop reusable diagnostic tools, playbooks, and implementation guidance to solve enterprise-level Windows management problems.
Diagnose and resolve complex Windows deployment, management, performance, and security issues for strategic enterprise customers.
Develop customer-specific strategies including technical problem statements, baselines, success measures, and remediation plans.
Design and implement technical prototypes, automation tools, scripts, and configuration changes in customer environments.
Provide actionable technical evidence, including reproduction information and logs, to support product fixes and telemetry enhancements.
Create reusable scripts, diagnostic tools, playbooks, and technical patterns to scale successful solutions for broad impact.
Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to customer engineers and internal Microsoft field teams.
Demonstrate measurable improvements in customer install-base health through telemetry, validation results, and agreed success measures.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Equivalent experience to the degree and years of experience requirement.
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
Experience in customer-facing software engineering, field engineering, technical consulting, escalation engineering, or support (preferred).
Technical knowledge of enterprise Windows environments including device provisioning, Intune, Autopilot, and OS/update management (preferred).
Experience troubleshooting technical issues using data, logs, PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, or Windows Performance Analyzer (preferred).
Experience building scripts, automation, diagnostic tools, or production-quality solutions using Azure DevOps or GitHub (preferred).
