The Coop - Mechatronics Engineer (Internship) joins the DUV Reticle Stage IBS MDU team to support a precision mechatronic subsystem within DUV lithography systems. This role involves developing and improving MATLAB-based analysis tools to evaluate system dynamics and performance using large measurement datasets. The intern will focus on power spectral density analysis, frequency-domain analysis, and creating visualizations. Key responsibilities include translating engineering requirements into maintainable MATLAB functions, reviewing existing code, and validating new methods against known datasets. Candidates must possess skills in MATLAB programming, mechanical dynamics, vibrations, and signal processing, including Fourier transforms. The position requires collaborating with subject-matter experts to investigate discrepancies in data processing or algorithms. This work addresses the technical challenge of evolving engineering tools to support complex mechatronic system performance and data analysis.
Develop and update MATLAB tools for analyzing and visualizing Reticle Stage dynamic performance data.
Perform power spectral density (PSD) and frequency-domain analysis on large measurement datasets.
Translate engineering requirements into maintainable MATLAB functions, analysis workflows, and visualizations.
Validate new and modified analysis methods against known datasets and existing engineering results.
Investigate data discrepancies by working with subject-matter experts to identify algorithmic or implementation errors.
Improve tool usability and technical documentation to ensure future engineers can use the software confidently.
Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from the mechatronics engineering team.
What we're looking for
Must be a college junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, Robotics, or a related engineering field.
Must be available for a 6-month co-op assignment.
Experience programming in MATLAB through coursework, projects, research, or previous internships/co-ops.
Understanding of fundamental mechanical dynamics and vibrations.
Familiarity with signal processing and frequency-domain analysis, such as Fourier transforms or power spectral density.
Ability to work with experimental measurement datasets to create clear engineering plots and visualizations.
Ability to translate loosely documented requirements into structured engineering solutions and maintainable MATLAB functions.
Familiarity with Git, SVN, or another version-control system (preferred).
