Consultant, Cybersecurity (Data Engineer) joins the Cyber Security Operations Center’s Innovation and Integration team to build a robust security data foundation. This role focuses on designing and operating data pipelines, lakehouse models, and telemetry engineering patterns that transform massive volumes of raw security data into usable intelligence for detections, analytics, and investigations. The successful candidate will manage ingestion, normalization, enrichment, and curation of diverse security sources while ensuring the data lake is scalable and governed. Key technical requirements include advanced Databricks and Spark experience, along with proficiency in Python and SQL. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in OCSF standards, schema design, and building batch or streaming pipelines for high-volume logs. The role solves critical infrastructure challenges by providing reliable telemetry to support mission-critical operational decisions and automated security workflows within a complex cyber defense environment.
Build and operate production-grade data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and enrich security telemetry.
Design lakehouse data models in Databricks that balance performance, cost, and analytical usability.
Develop automated systems for the enrichment and handling of cyber security events.
Implement data quality monitoring, freshness checks, and reconciliation controls for critical data flows.
Optimize job performance, cluster usage, and storage layouts to ensure scalability and cost efficiency.
Partner with detection engineers to ensure data products support effective rules and investigation workflows.
Troubleshoot pipeline defects, telemetry gaps, and downstream issues during production incident responses.
Maintain security governance controls and auditability requirements for sensitive security data.
What we're looking for
Undergraduate studies in cyber security, management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics, or comparable experience and education are preferred.
Preferred certifications include CISSP, CCNA, CEH, GCIH, EnCE, GSTRT, GSE, CCSP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or AZ500.
Typically requires six years of experience in technology with at least four years specifically in cyber security.
Experience is required in building and operating batch and streaming data pipelines for high-volume telemetry, logs, and security datasets.
Advanced Databricks and Spark experience combined with strong proficiency in Python and SQL are required.
Proficiency in scripting using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and Windows Batch is required.
Knowledge of network configurations, protocols, firewalls, and web application security is required.
Experience with telemetry normalization (OCSF), schema design, and lakehouse or data lake architectures is required.
