As a CNC Programmer for the Precision Structures & Optics team, you will join a cross-functional group dedicated to developing and optimizing manufacturing processes involving CNC machinery. You will be responsible for creating precise programs that control machine tools to ensure aerospace components are produced accurately and efficiently. Your daily work involves interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, writing G-code, optimizing tool paths, and troubleshooting machine errors. To succeed, you must possess proficiency in CAD/CAM software, a strong understanding of DNC systems, and knowledge of GD&T. You will also apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve production cycles. This role specifically addresses the manufacturing of Beryllium products used in high-performance targeting, guidance systems, missile defense, space exploration, and satellites within the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries.

What you'll do

  • Develop and write CNC programs for machining aerospace components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate machine tool programs.
  • Optimize tool paths and machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming issues and machine errors on the shop floor.
  • Maintain and update CNC program libraries and technical documentation.
  • Conduct trial runs and adjust programs to ensure precision and quality standards.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and conduct time studies to improve production efficiency.
  • Train and mentor production staff on new processes and equipment.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred (preferred).
  • Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related field with 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and G-code programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with DNC (Direct Numerical Control) systems.
  • Knowledge of materials and machining techniques specific to aerospace components.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
